In case your Windows profile user ID contains non-UTF characters, such as éöáä and similar, please do the following on the server computer:
- Open Synergy.
- Go to File > Save Configuration As to export your existing setup.
- Save the configuration to a directory without the account id, for example, C:\SynergyConfig\Synergy.sgc
- Navigate to Configure (server configuration), and then to the config file tab
- Check the "Use a server config file" option, then click the folder icon to navigate and point to the saved location (example to C:\SynergyConfig\Synergy.sgc)
- Press OK, then Apply
The Synergy application should now be able to read the configuration and start properly.
