Problem
You may sometimes encounter error codes 2502 or 2503 when installing Synergy. These errors stem from the MSI installation service on Windows.
During installation or uninstallation, Windows needs to write files to a temporary folder. If it lacks the necessary permissions, these errors will occur.
Whenever you install or uninstall a program, files have to be written to a temporary folder. If Windows is unable to write to that folder then you will get these errors.
Solution
- Open File Explorer
- Navigate to Local Disk (C:\), then Windows
- Right-click on the Temp folder
- Select Properties
- In the Security tab, click the Advanced button
- Select your user account
- Edit
- Select full control
- OK, then Apply
- Retry Synergy installation
