What you need to configure Synergy
- An active Synergy license
- Synergy 1 installed on each computer
- At least two computers, each with their own monitor
- Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection (computers must be on the same network)
Step 1 - Open Synergy
Once you have Synergy installed and activated.
Determine which computer in your setup that you want to be the server (the computer which has the keyboard and mouse that you would like to share).
Below the computer name, you will find your computer's IP address or addresses if connected to more than one network. We will need this when we connect the client in step 3
- Our server computer's name is Windows-One
- The server computer's IP address is 192.168.1.249
Step 2 - Configure the server computer
Select the server computer by clicking the radio button beside "Use this computer's keyboard and mouse".
After selecting the server in Synergy, you should see the following message:
Step 3 - Configure the client computer
Once you have set the server, you now need to connect the client.
- Use the IP addresses from the server computer and enter it in the text field labelled Server IP address or hostname
On the server computer, you would need to allow the connection by selecting Add client:
A "Connected to server" will appear on the client:
(Optional) Step 4 - Enable TLS encryption
If you have Synergy 1 Pro, TLS encryption will be enabled by default after install. However, if you upgraded or clear settings you may need to enable the encryption setting on all computers:

Step 5 - Arrange the layout on the server
Once connected, Synergy will place the client computer next to the server in the layout. However, this may not match with the physical arrangement, and can be easily changed by clicking and dragging:
After making the necessary edits, press the OK button for the changes to take effect.
