Product: Synergy 3
Operating system: Linux
After installing Synergy 3 on Fedora, you may notice after a while that Synergy gets automatically downgraded to Synergy 1/Deskflow or removed by the operating system when updating or restarting the computer.
This is caused by a bug in our RPM package generator not using the correct epoch value, which we plan to fix. Until then, here's a workaround to stop Fedora from automatically downgrading or removing Synergy 3.
If Synergy has already been downgraded to a different version, please uninstall it and then carry out the steps below:
- Install Synergy again via terminal -
sudo dnf install ~/Downloads/synergy-3.3.1-linux-noble-x64.rpm
(This example is based on the Synergy 3.3.1 installer file for Noble, please use the relevant installer file name after/Downloads/for the version of Synergy that you have downloaded)
- After you have installed Synergy please make the changes below which will prevent Fedora from downgrading the version of Synergy installed
Newer versions of Fedora
- Edit /etc/dnf/dnf.conf
- Under [main] add: exclude=synergy
Older versions of Fedora
- Edit /etc/yum/repos.d/fedora.repo
- Under [main] add: exclude=synergy
Please note that if you would like to update Synergy 3, you would first need to remove exclude=synergy under [main], proceed to update Synergy 3, then add exclude=synergy under [main] after updating to prevent Synergy from downgrading again.
