Below you’ll find the key steps, prerequisites, and best practices for a smooth deployment on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
What You Need Before Installation

Synergy 1 Business license (active)

Synergy 1 installer (download from Synergy website)

Administrator privileges on each computer

At least two computers on the same network

Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection (all machines must be on the same network)
Step 1 ‐ Decide on Installation Scope

All Users vs. Current User

Synergy 1 requires admin privileges to install, so typically you’ll choose “Install for All Users” if your OS installer prompts for that.

Multi‐User, Shared System

For corporate or shared environments, ensure you install Synergy with an admin account so each user on that system can run Synergy without reinstallation.

Step 2 ‐ Download the Latest Installer

Log in to your Synergy account.

Go to the Downloads section and select the Synergy 1 installer (.msi, .dmg, or .deb/.rpm/pkg.tar.zst, depending on your operating system).

Save it to a convenient local or shared folder.
Step 3 ‐ Run the Installer

Right‐click the installer → Run as administrator.

Follow on‐screen prompts (you may see an option to install for “All Users”).

Step 4 ‐ Enter Your License Key

Launch Synergy from your Applications or Start Menu.

When prompted, paste in your Synergy license key (from your Synergy account).
Step 5 ‐ Basic Configuration

Identify which machine is the “Server” (the one sharing its keyboard and mouse) and which are “Clients.”

Configure hostnames/IPs in Synergy settings.
